The most recent project meeting took place at the Bergamo Tecnologie SP. ZO.O. headquarters in Lodz, Poland.
The first day included presentations from A2PBEER partners, updating everyone on the progress to date. Despite the initial delays in the development of the technologies the project has advanced significantly with the innovative technology designs tested and tweaked numerous times to ensure precision and high energy performance. The prototypes for the façade envelope, smart lighting and thermal heating are in the final stages of testing at the Kubic test centre in Bilbao, and the windows designed and developed by Bergamo were available to view at the meeting.
We were shown around the state-of-the-art workshop with the 3D printing machine ensuring precision of construction of the window frames coupled with an ingenious fitting mechanism to ensure air tightness. The glazed unit coated with differing absorptive glass coatings holds a high energy performance. The reversible smart windows are patented and are presently in production for the demo sites. After a long day of discussions an evening meal was arranged for everyone located at a historic building in the heart of Lodz.
The strategies for the exploitation, dissemination and training programmes took the centre stage for the second day finishing off with agreement for the programme of works for retrofitting each building.
I am sure I speak for all the partners by thanking Bergamo and Tecnalia for a wonderful and well organised meeting and stay.
